Florida – In his first few days of office, Governor Rick Scott is already off to a bad start. He’s issued an executive order banning housing/employment discrimination protections for LGBT citizens. But he also may have accidentally banned protections for disability and marriage status as well!
Sleazemouth. In his zelousness to make sure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents can’t get a job or a house, his executive order also limited protections to other categories which are already in the state’s constitution – namely disability and marriage status. It’s not yet clear if these other ommissions were done intentionally or were a mistake. But one thing is clear, if you don’t look like him, you’re not good enough.

This is just a terrific story about Jason Osmanski, a 17-year-old gay high school student who almost became another statistic when he almost killed himself after years of being told at his Baptist church that homosexuality is a sin, which was followed by bullying at school.
But now he’s the head of the Gay-Straight Alliance at Snow Canyon High School in St. George, Utah, which seems to be leading the way of GSA activity in the state, despite efforts from folks like Gayle Ruzicka, president of the Utah Eagle Forum, who say GSAs are merely a “a gay recruiting tool.” Awesome kids: 1; Monsters: 0.
[video: Jason was interviewed by the Salt Lake Tribune last year, talking about his suicide attempt]

Well thisisupsetting: That’s according to an interview conducted by Grove City College professor Warren Throckmorton with Stephen Tashobya, the chair of the Ugandan Parliament’s Legal and Affairs committee last Friday. Tashobya said that he expects the bill to come up sometime after February 18, which is when Parliamentary elections will be held.

The AFA is throwing their toys out of the pram. Apparently the gaggle of other Western nations with open service are “feminized” and “neutered”. This is so ridiculous I can’t stop laughing. (via justjasper)
And this is why the USA is the laughing stock of the world.

A Gay Commander in Chief: Ready or Not?
By MAUREEN DOWD
WASHINGTON
